Minimalist Wallet vs Regular Wallet: Which One Fits How You Carry?
Share
A minimalist wallet is smaller, holds fewer things and sits slimmer in a pocket. A regular wallet holds more but gets thick. The right one depends on what you carry every day, not on which sounds better. Here is how they differ, how to decide, and which Thepps wallet suits each way of carrying.
Minimalist wallet vs regular wallet: the differences
| Minimalist wallet | Regular wallet | |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Small. Our minimalist wallets close to between 3.5 x 2.5 and 4.7 x 3.0 inches. | Larger. Our biggest bifold, The Cardinal, closes to 5.5 x 3.9 inches. |
| Cards | Fewer. In our range, from 3 to 4 cards (One-Shot) up to 13 to 15 (Pocket Mini 2.0). | More slots. The Cardinal has four inside slots of 3 to 4 cards each. |
| Cash | Folded bills in a slot, or held by a money clip. | Bills usually lie flat in a full-width compartment or an outside bill slot. |
| Coins | Only some designs have a place for coins. | Many designs do. |
| In the pocket | Slim, and comfortable in a front pocket. | Thicker, and usually carried in a back pocket. |
How do you decide?
- Choose a minimalist wallet if you carry a few cards and a little cash, and pay mostly by UPI or card.
- Choose a regular wallet if you carry many cards, a lot of cash, or papers such as receipts and IDs.
- Need coins? Pick a design with a coin space, whichever size you choose.
- Front pocket or back pocket? A slim wallet is more comfortable in either, and a thick one is hard to carry in a front pocket.
How many cards do you really need?
Take everything out of your wallet and put back only the cards you used in the last month. Keep the rest at home. The number you end up with tells you which size to buy.
